Astronomical Observatory

In 2015, Bassegoda Park, which is part of the site on which the observatory is located, became the first camp in the Iberian Peninsula to be accredited by the Starlight Foundation.

In June 2017, after years of work, the municipality of Albanyà, where the Bassegoda Park observatory is located, became the first international dark sky park in Spain to receive the recognition from the International Dark-Sky Association.

The Albanyà Observatory is fully automated and has the latest state-of-the-art astronomical equipment, such as the largest telescope in the province of Girona. Its advanced facilities enable the dissemination of astronomy for beginners, as well as scientific research for professional astronomers. The observatory has a fully automated, 4-metre dome.
