Plan your arrival and travel
In the extreme northeast of Catalonia, the Empordà region is connected by public transport services to the rest of the country. To facilitate your arrival and travel between municipalities, we have compiled the information of all of them in this small guide:
BY CAR
From Europe: crossing the French border on the AP7 motorway or the N-II road. The motorway exit is nº3. The two roads cross the region from north to south. You can also enter the coast from France to Cerbère by the N-260, which from Llançà crosses the region from east to west and allows you to continue towards the Pyrenean regions. From Barcelona or Girona: on the AP7 motorway or on the N-II road. The motorway exit is nº4. Baix Empordà and Costa Brava: The C-31 allows you to move towards the south eastern coast of Empordà, and continue towards Baix Empordà.

BY TRAIN
With entry from the south (from Barcelona) or from the north (from France and passing through Portbou), the train is one of the most comfortable means of reaching Empordà. In addition, distributed throughout the region, there are eight municipalities that have a railway station: Portbou, Colera, Llançà, Vilajuïga, Figueres, Vilamalla, Sant Miquel de Fluvià and Camallera.

THE HIGH SPEED TRAIN
The AVE Figueres-Vilafant station is connected, by several daily trains, with Barcelona, Madrid, Paris and other European cities. Although the AVE Figueres-Vilafant station is located on the outskirts of the city (on the N-260 towards Besalú), it has a very good connection with the Figueres bus station.

BY BUS
The Figueres bus station connects with all the rest of the Empordà municipalities. The easiest way to obtain information on the various lines that connect the towns of Empordà is by contacting the Figueres bus station (972 67 33 54) or consulting the offer of the Empordà transport companies.
