Menhir de la Pedra Dreta

Discover the Legend of the Menhir de la Pedra Dreta

Menhir de la Pedra Dreta: Since prehistoric times, dating back to the IV and III millennia BCE, there has been a menhir in the area known as Pas de les Llebres. This menhir is famous for the legend of “The Devil’s Stone.”

According to the legend, during the construction of the Ceret Bridge, the architect, feeling unable to complete the work, made a pact with the devil. The pact involved selling his soul if the devil could complete the bridge before midnight. Although the devil accepted, as he was heading to Ceret with the last stone, the twelve chimes rang, and the devil melted away to hell, leaving the stone embedded in the ground, where it can be admired today. Hence, the Ceret Bridge is missing a large stone in one of its buttresses.

How to Get There: It’s an ideal place to visit while exploring the route from Coll de Sant Martí to Mas Olivet. Further along, you’ll find the menhir, and then you can descend following the old path to Tapis. Another option is to take the old Tapis path and detour to see it before continuing the journey.

An enchanting experience that will transport you to ancient times and a mysterious legend. Don’t miss this unique opportunity for discovery!
