The remains of Montroig Castle are visible from all over the district, perched on the peak of the same name. Legend has it that the blood of the lady of the castle and her lover, killed by her jealous husband, stained the walls and floors of this mountain. The reality is much more telluric, since the castle is located on clayey terrain of a bright red color that gives the peak and the castle its name and which was used to manufacture the castle tiles. Documented since 1070, the building preserves few remains, because it has had continuous renovations. It was damaged in the 16th century by order of the viceroy and demolished definitively in the Great War (1793-1795).
