El Roure is what the locals call an old priory located northwest of Pont de Molins (Empordà) and by extension the entire surface of the land at the top of the Sierra dels Tramonts, populated for pines and olive trees.
Santa Maria del Roure, Canonical of Santa Maria del Roure, Priory of Santa Maria del Roure, or according to the Cartographic Institute of Catalonia: Our Lady of the Oak, are names of the prior dedicated to the Virgin Mary. No data have been found on the date of consecration of the Romanesque church, which would later be that of the priory, although it was most likely built in the 11th century under the approval of the lords of the castle of Montmarí.
