The Monument to Lluís Companys was built by the Commission to commemorate the president’s move to exile in January 1939. It was inaugurated in 1981, on the Coll de Manrella, right on the border with France. Every year, on October 15, the date on which Lluís Companys was shot in Montjuïc in 1940, an act of homage is celebrated. The monument is the work of the architect Santiago Boix Folqué.
