Torre Galatea

Building located in the historic center of the city, between the Rambla and the castle of Sant Ferran. It is a 17th century house that preserves the only remains that are visible from the old medieval wall that defended the town of Figueres. Corner building that solves its location with a wide tower. On the ground floor we find a large central access portal and two smaller sides, all framed by voussoirs. On the first floor, balconies and windows alternate with large stone lintels and broken pediments. The cornice is on corbels. It was renovated in 1931 by the architect Pelayo Martínez Paricio. Salvador Dalí converted it into the Galatea Tower as a tribute to Gala and in honor of all the riddles. It is currently part of the Dalí Museum.
