Tortoise Breeding Centre of Albera includes facilities intended for the captive breeding of the tortoise, a species in danger of extinction, which holds the last population Albera peninsular.
The aim of the Centre is the breeding of turtles to reduce the significant juvenile mortality that occurs in nature, and thus have a significant number of individuals in order to liberate them and enhance natural populations .
The facilities allow the CRT to study the biology of turtles, and otherwise characterize the ecotype of the eastern Pyrenees. The Center also fulfills didactic functions, attracting schools, families, groups and all kinds of people, teaching them to understand and love the turtles and the Mediterranean forest, and no capture or disturb these animals so unique.

Per que visitar-lo?
Due to the hibernation of the turtles, the center is closed from November 1st to March 21st.
Spring and fall hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 to 5 p.m.
It is closed on Mondays.
Daylight saving time is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The visit in the morning is recommended, for greater activity of the turtles.
On rainy or bad weather the activity is very low.
