Hiking Trails

The Empordà is a territory that allows us in a single day to go from the mountains, the woods and the pastures to the sea, the beaches and the shore walks.

This characteristic makes it an exceptional area for hiking while admiring and important historical and natural heritage; the abrupt ring of modest height formed by the massif of Les Salines, with the highest peak of the district, the Roc del Comptador (1.451 m.) the Albera range (a Natural Area of National Interest), and the Cap de Creus headland (Cap de Creus Natural Park) at the easternmost point of the Pyrenees, which plunges in to the sea between rugged rocks carved out by the Tramuntana wind.

From here on, the landscape is much gentler, with less pronounced hills and paths, from which we can see church towers overlooking many small villages.

Finally, this fringe of territory gives way to the broad plain that opens out to the sea, with the important protected area lying between the Muga and Fluvià rivers;  The Empordà Marshes Nature Park.
